Around the shop:
As we begin our 43rd year of serving New Mexico’s Fiber Addicts, we are pleased to continue to be able to offer a full spectrum (from very beginning to advanced) of informative and fun classes in knitting, weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, tatting, silk painting, Temari, etc., etc. taught by some of the best teachers in the country – right here in Albuquerque! In addition to this printing we add classes and may need to update information on others throughout the semester. We encourage you to go to www.villagewools.com and give us your email under “Contact Us – Newsletter Subscription”. This will allow you to get reminders about upcoming classes, spontaneous sales, new arrivals and other news. We will be using Facebook more as well for those of you who are tech oriented.
The Holidays are rapidly approaching and as time starts to run short, Village Wools comes to the rescue! We are offering a new service: BLOCKING! We have booked quite a few Trunk Shows this fall:
And monthly, we will have different garments from Jamison’s courtesy of Simply Shetland. We love the new interest in Fair Isle, stranded knitting.
Village Wools has formed a team to compete in TNNA’s Spinzilla this October during National Spinning and Weaving Week (Oct. 7-13). We are looking for spinners to join our team: the team with the most yards (miles) spun, wins! Prizes are being offered by many TNNA members. This is a fundraiser for the Needlearts Mentoring Program. Go to www.spinzilla.org for sign-ups and information. Our team name is Village Wools. While you are there, read through the blogs- a lot of information.
Dates to remember:
Visit Sheep to Shawl at the New Mexico State Fair, Sept. 11-22.
Taos Wool Festival, Oct. 5-6. For more information, check their website: www.taoswoolfestival.org
Our annual Customer Show will be from October 14th through 26th. Please bring in your items for display around October 12th. Please bag your project with your name, the yarn and pattern used. The annual Staff Show will be November 11-23rd.
As we go to press, we are trying to organize a Meet and Greet Your Local Designer’s Day. Look for details in upcoming emails.
Look for changes mid Fall as we update our Web appearance and email to a fresher style.
One more announcement: we have discontinued our Frequent Shopper Card rather than raise prices, but will be honoring $$ off based on partially filled cards through the end of 2013. Don’t throw them away – they are like cash!
Help Hours: While there are no ‘official’ help times, you may still drop in anytime between 1-5 pm for help- bring a little patience if we are checking out other customers, but we are always happy to take a look and make suggestions. When we get busier later in the fall we will probably add ‘official’ help times and will announce them by our emails. If you need help with crochet, weaving or spinning, please be sure someone is here who can help with those special issues.
