Summer news!

Around the Shop

Summer! The garden is in, the heat is up, and it’s time to stay in the cool and start those small projects that will pad the holiday gift stash. It’s the season where we bolster our confidence and finish lots of little (non-lap-heating) projects with all kinds of new stitches, techniques, and one-of-a-kind lonely skeins and hand dyed beauties: socks, mini-cowls, fingerless mitts, mug cozies, hats, leg warmers, and so on. You know, the kind of projects you can keep in your purse in a sandwich bag and pull out while you’re on hold, waiting through the third light rotation, sitting in airports worldwide, or watching another baseball game – and actually finishing by the weekend!

In Celebration of Little Projects we are challenging you, our Creative Customers, to a CONTEST! You have from now to the end of August to start and finish as many ONE Skein projects as you can. The winner will receive a $50 Village Wools Gift Certificate, 2nd place a $30 GC and 3rd place a $20 GC. We will need from you the actual item, yarn, and pattern information. Any medium is accepted: knitted, crocheted, woven, felted, etc. We’ll display the finished items the first week of Sept. and post photos on our web site to brag about you! Patterns abound on Ravelry, or better yet, make up your own (extra points for that!) Ready, set, go!!

In the summer we carefully whittle down our inventory to a minimum to make counting manageable and taxes lower at the end of our fiscal year. You get to help when we put everything in the store on a 15% off sale the last week of August (Sat. Aug. 23-Fri. Aug. 29). We’re closed on Sat. Aug. 30 to count what’s left.

Have a great summer and don’t forget to put your feet up, grab your lemonade and create!!

Spinning News: We are going to have open spinning on the first Sunday of every month from 1-4pm. We had so much fun with SPINZILLA (TNNA) last fall that we though we’d better have some dedicated spinning time all year long! SPINZILLA is coming up again, so let’s rev those wheels!

Help Hours: While there are no ‘official’ help times, you may still drop in anytime between 1-5 pm for help- bring a little patience if we are checking out other customers, but we are always happy to take a look and make suggestions. If you need help with crochet, weaving or spinning, please be sure someone is here who can help with those special issues.
